Feels like this four day weekend has flown past, but its been a good one.
Friday night we drove down to Cornwall as Cerian was going out for her friends Hen party. Whilst she was having fun on saturday I headed down to Bosigran for some climbing. I had thought about rope soloing a VS slab route, but after having a quick look from the bottom I could find a good place to build a belay, so decided to head on to the moorland above Bosigran for some bouldering.
I found a couple of good lines with british 4c/5a moves on.
Soon after my bouldering the rain arrived and I headed home for some lunch, before going out for a run.
Sunday, we went to the Blue Bar at Porthtowan for Cerian's birthday lunch, then headed back home after.
Can you spot the viaduct?
Monday I went to Croscombe to explore Ham Woods and maybe do some climbing. I started at the bottom of the valley and found the Puddingstone Cliff. Then headed back up the valley to find an old railway viaduct consumed by the woodland, and an old tunnel through the hillside that you could walk through. I then found the old quarry nearby the old railway line.
I didn't do any climbing in the end, but it was fun exploring the valley.
Westdown Quarry
On my way back home I stopped off to check out Westdown Quarry. A disused quarry, there has been some routes climbed, but looks like there is still some potential for new routes. It's much bigger Fairy Cave, but a lot of the rock is loose and broken, but there are some places where it is still together. Will have to take another trip there sometime.
The Puddingstone Cliff
Finally today, I have had a great 10km run - in the rain! After the two runs this weekend I feel like I have started to turn the corner with regard to my IT band pain. The issue it seems - as with most things - appears to be with my form. Twisting my hips more and relaxing more, has made my stride a lot more efficient. It feels good to be back!
