Swanage Trad & Sport Weekend

This weekend I've spent the whole time climbing down Swanage! Glorious weather as usual (though a little too hot in the peak of the day), and a great view.

Saturday was spent trad climbing with Stuart at Subluminal. We managed a few good routes but nothing to strenuous due to the Sun. Routes climbed were Double Chockstone (HVD), Second Corner (S 4a), Pedestal Chimney (VD) and First Corner (S 4b).

I lead First Corner, and I must say its the most enjoyable climb I've done down Swanage. It starts with a small traverse under a roof with a precipice below your feet dropping down to the sea. Straight forward climbing continues thereafter until the slabby crux section towards the top, which involved a bit of thrutching and some interesting positions! Mind out for the wobbly block at the top and you're there... awesome!

After watching the England game that evening, and drinking one too many beers, Gregg joined us on the second day for some sport climbing at Hedbury quarry.

I repeated a few routes I'd done before, and top roped the 4+ Tethered By Gravity.

Being Gregg's first outdoor sport experience, he was pleased to lead and get to the top of Tethered By Gravity. Good work Gregg!

Here are a couple of pictures of Gregg and Stuart on Sea View (3+).
