Invisible/Zero Shoes

A few weeks ago I ordered some footwear from a company in the US called Invisible Shoes (soon to be known as Zero Shoes). As the name might suggest, there is not much to them. They're simply a rubber sole that comes with some cord to tie them around your feet, making sandals commonly referred to as Huaraches.

Many barefoot/minimal runners advocate how good they are, but until now I haven't tried them.

I've had them a few days, and have just walked about the house in them so far. They are so light, and it is like there is nothing on your feet.

So today I took them out for a short run. I was concerned that cord might rub then skin too much when running the trails, especially as it was a bit muddy out there today. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how they performed. No rubbing at all, although my forefoot slid a little when put in some mud, its almost unavoidable even in shoes. I'll be running in these a lot more I think!

Muddy sandals.
I'm still taking the running a little easy at the moment, hoping to keep my legs healthy and hopefully ready for the New Forest 10 miler in July.
