An Afternoon In The Quarry

Brad and I visited Fairy Cave Quarry yesterday afternoon as it had been so long since we'd been out!

We arrived and decided to warm up by soloing up some easier routes. We started up a the lower green line on the picture below, then I carried on on the upper green line above, whilst Brad followed a parallel line next to me. Check the guidebook after we had climbed Blue Nose, Blue Toes (Very Difficult) and the second pitch of Heaven Can Wait (Hard Severe). The line Brad was on on the upper section could well have been a Hard Very Severe.

After our warm up I decided to try a climb named Toblerone (E1 5b). After getting up to the first overlap I found the moves a little tricky and eventually decided to back off, been mainly conscious of hitting my bad leg and making that worse!

We then headed up the first pitch of Heaven Can Wait (the blue line), then went over to the left to look at another E1. By the time we had got in place the rain had made the slab greasy and slimey, quite clearly shown by my black hands! A swift change of route was made and we climbed a parallel line called Aerie Faerie Nonsense (VS 4c - the red line).

A good afternoon me thinks!
